Shauna DeSouza, MSW Student

Student Therapist

Hello, my name is Shauna DeSouza. I am a second-generation Canadian of Guyanese and Portuguese heritage and a mixed-race Master of Social Work student with a deep passion for supporting children and families. I have experience working with families of children on the autism spectrum, as well as with neurodivergent and atypical individuals of all ages, providing resources and supports tailored to each person’s unique needs.

As a student therapist with Francis Psychotherapy, I work under the direct supervision of practice owner Roxanne Francis, Social Worker & Psychotherapist. I am currently completing my Master of Social Work degree at the University of Toronto.

Grounded in evidence-based practice and guided by a culturally responsive approach, I strive to create inclusive spaces where families feel understood, valued, and empowered. Through my graduate studies, I am expanding my work with adults and deepening my holistic approach to supporting individuals within the context of their environments. I lead with compassion and aim to help people grow, heal, and thrive.

Fun fact: I’m a big Harry Potter fan, a car show enthusiast, and a lifelong Disney lover. One of my favourite quotes comes from Rafiki in The Lion King: “Oh yes, the past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it, or learn from it.”
