Danielle David, MSW, RSW

Registered Social Worker/Psychotherapist

Hi! I’m Danielle.

Sometimes life goes very wrong. Bad things happen, even traumatic things. I don’t need to tell you that. You know what it is like to endure trauma.

What you experienced years ago may disturb you even now.

You’re moving into adulthood but may still feel trapped by what happened to you in the past. You want to feel more comfortable in your relationships. Yet, you sometimes struggle to maintain something meaningful. Perhaps your traumatic experiences keep you from expressing yourself as you’d like.

I understand how difficult it can be to navigate a world that doesn’t quite have the patience or understanding of how devastating and isolating experiencing trauma can be. I was fortunate enough to access therapy at a young age when I needed it most, though.

Now I work with young adults so they can become more grounded within themselves and their relationships. I know that you can learn to manage difficult life stressors with resiliency and actually have joy.

You don’t have to wonder anymore if you can have more confidence, less anxiety, and more purpose.

It’s possible.

It’s also possible to meaningfully integrate past experiences into the present. You can learn to make connections between past experiences and what’s challenging you in your life now.

If you work with me, you might begin to feel like my other clients. You might find that you can now:

  • Understand and accept your genuine emotions

  • Connect with others in a meaningful way,

  • Communicate your thoughts and feelings authentically

  • Enforce boundaries with confidence

  • Release yourself from shame and guilt

  • Soothe yourself in healthy ways

I’ll be honest with you: maintaining mental wellness takes work. But, as we pursue your wellness together, you will better understand yourself. We’ll identify and acknowledge how your core thoughts and feelings contribute to any present problems.

You’ll start to see the impact of stress and trauma on your brain and body. You’ll build a toolbox of new coping skills and be able to manage what’s troubling you.

No more getting triggered in day-to-day interactions in your relationships! We'll make sense of this confusion in our sessions.

Let’s explore new perspectives on how you relate to people.

The genuine connections I make with clients are what I love most about being a therapist! There is no greater gift than to be trusted with your story and witness your journey to wellness. I use a multi-pronged approach in working with my clients, including (but not limited to) trauma-focused cognitive behavioural therapy, motivational interviewing, attachment theory, psychoeducation and mindfulness.

Being a first-generation Caribbean-Canadian Black woman has provided me with a valuable lens of resilience and empathy through which I provide my therapeutic service.

If you’re experiencing anxiety or depression and its effects on your life, I would love to talk with you.

Fun facts about me: I LOVE to learn. It might go beyond what most would consider the norm. Philosophy, psychology, science and current events, I take a deep dive into it. When I’m not doing that, you can find me having shameless sing-alongs to my favourite dancehall and hiphop artists. I call it balance!
